There will be two seed saving events with Jude and Michel Fanton in Eltham and Violet Town in Victoria, Australia on the weekend of 10th and 11th of April 2010.
Saturday 10th April – Teaching seed saving
with Jude and Michel Fanton
Venue: Edendale Farm in the town of Eltham run by local council – vegetable beds, farm animals, indigenous nursery, mudbrick education room
Time of workshop: 10am to 4pm
Food: Bring your own food, preferably something from your garden

Sunday 11th April Seed Saving Day with Michel and Jude Fanton
The first half of the day we’ll have at Peranbin Primary College, Tulip St Violet Town, 9.30am then move to Murrnong after lunch for practical seed saving workshops in Dave Arnold’s vegie garden. The Ecoliving project is funding the day & we are making it by donation.
This is the schedule:
9.30 – 10.00 or 10.30 – meet, greet, seat, eat & registration. Time here for folk to catch up, check out books, grab a cuppa and food, look at the displays, buy or swap seed etc.
10.15, show ‘Our Seeds’ DVD, and then commentary, questions with the Fantons who filmed directed and produced the one hour documentary
12-12.30 LUNCH Move to Murnong, 4446 Murchison Rd, Violet Town, either by car or foot
Gather by 1.20pm for a brief overview of the property by Dave
1.30 start practical workshops – and depending on numbers – this may well need to be in groups.
Finish up 3.30 – 4.00

Learn from these world renowned teachers how to teach others to select, harvest, process and store seeds from their food gardens.
Open to all who are interested in edible gardening and seed saving Suitable for teachers / leaders / volunteers from school / kitchen gardens, community gardens, gardening clubs, local food / seedsaving and permaculture groups
If you are a practising seed saver, come along and share your knowledge and bring along anyspare seeds you may have.
Special screening of “Our Seeds” a documentary filmed in various locations throughout the world by Michel & Jude over the past few years.
Culminating in a Regional Seed Swap where participants can pick up seeds grown locally and adapted to our local environment
9:00 am – 3:00pm starting at Stephanie Alexander Garden Tulip St Violet Town and finishing at Murnong near Violet Town.
Morning and afternoon tea supplied. We request a minimum gold coin donation from participants, and invite larger donations to help support the voluntary work done by these local seed saver groups.
Bring home grown produce or lunch to share. Seed saving books will be for sale.
This event is organised by Goulburn Valley & Violet Town Seed Savers, in partnership with the Violet Town Eco-Living Project.
