The Seed Savers’ Network is a not-for-profit organisation based in Australia to conserve, in culture, seeds of traditional varieties of plants for food and other uses. We favour varieties that are locally-adapted, hardy and dependent on neither synthetic fertilisers nor toxic chemicals, but rather home-made composts. We are home gardeners saving locally-adapted seeds of tomorrow’s food.

The Seed Savers’ Network, since 1986.

The 2022 edition of The Seed Savers’ Handbook includes a personal perspective by curator, author and conservationist Jerry Coleby-Williams:- My grandparents encouraged me to save seed because they had learned that home saved seed gave dependable results … also lots of seed gives you confidence! Seed saving … enables us to diversify once again our crops to suit conditions as our climate changes …”

Here are a couple of our books now free to download- Seed to Seed Food Gardens on how to start a food garden, Local Seed Network Manual” on how to start a group that collects, uses and distributes locally adapted seeds and other planting material.
